CHICK HABIT

A new night I have been involved with is 'Chick Habit'. This is an indie/alternative night taking place at The Candy Bar. We aim to have live acts every fortnight and already we have had fantastic performances from bands like Neon Choir and Lois and the Love.

MAJOR CATCH UP!

Yet again I have been very flaky with regards to my blog but I can assure you this is going to change!
The past month has been really exciting and some fantastic things have happened.

Pride season has begun and I was lucky enough to play the women's tent at Birmingham Pride. This was so much fun and I can safely say that this gig is one that I have been the most nervous.
The crowd were great and I was stunned to see big posters with my face on around the pub which was very surreal!

Gotye

If you aren’t familiar with the modern day anthem that is ‘Somebody I used to know’ by Gotye where have you been?  Whether you adored the song or hated it you would not have been able to escape it. Gotye comes back full force with the follow up proving that this was not a one hit wonder. ‘Eyes wide open’ (released 4^th June) is a fast paced story showing off his outstanding vocals as well as his genius lyricist talents. Addictive and exciting this track has a summery undertone and will be a festival hit.

Prima Donna!

Returning to the music scene we can see the insanely talented Marina the The Diamonds come back with some fantastic new material.  Recently supporting Katy Perry on her Californian Dreams tour Marina will be taking 2012 by storm.

Not only is she easy on the eye she has a belting voice and her first album ‘The Family Jewels’ went straight to number five in the UK album charts. She is now back almost a year later with her new single ‘Prima Donna’ . As well as Prima Donna she also released ‘Radioactive’ so she has slowly been creeping back into the music scene and we are very happy to have her back.

Her new sound is a lot more electronic and dancy yet still has her eclectic sound  and vocals reminding us why we fell in love with her in the first place. Prima Donna is beautifully catchy and will have crowds dancing and belting out the addictive lyrics.

The newly blonde has said her new album ‘Electra Heart’ released on the 30^th April is all about sexuality and feminism and lets face it we all love a good girl power track.

So we have tested the water and the time has finally come to officially launch the fantastic night that is 'Backroom'.

The lovely friendly pub in Surbiton 'The Brave New World' hosts its fortnightly night 'Backroom'.
